The Violinist

Sitting in the gazebo again, the melodies filled my senses. This was my magic: real, tangible, yet indescribable.

As my fingers pressed the first cord, I let go. It starts slow. Almost peaceful. The tempo increases. Fast. Vibrant. It carries me up with it. Now it’s faster. Full of life. The stick brushes against all of the strings at the same time. My heart is rushing. It’s the right angle. It’s the perfect time. It steals my breath away.

A sudden round of applause dragged me back to reality. I tighten the grasp in my violin as I stood up and smiled.

She was once magnificent… but time condemns us all to being forgotten. Roots and moss are now taking over, still growing, not caring if they kill the last of her. “Damn you!” I yell.

I walk around in my armour, skeptical that this is really all that’s left. Trees now stand where miles of stone walls once were, and I feel lost. How is this possible? What curse could be responsible of such massive destruction?

A gigantic birdlike creature suddenly rushes on the sky above me, and the noise makes me swing my sword. All I can think is: “Since when are dragons white?”

This woods had become my home… Somehow the dull colors and dry wilderness suited me. I descried his silhouette on the bridge and smiled. This wooden passage saw us grow from curious kids, into young lovers.

Who would have guessed that it would also see the end on that terrible night? That stupid fight, and one unguarded moment was all it took for me to fall and never come back.

Now I was next to him, a shady hand almost touching his shoulder without him knowing.

“I’m here.” I whispered, before pushing him to the abyss in front of him.

I don’t usually write after my stories, but I just wanted to apologize to everyone for not being very active two weeks ago, and then not participating at all last week… The Flu got to me too.

But anyways, I’m okay now and ready to get back! I’m looking forward to reading all of your entries, and I hope you like mine too. Feel free to comment whatever’s on your mind, and to explore the rest of my blog.

Have a great day!

He had always been with me, but I think this was too much for him now. After exploring Europe, The Himalayas, and working in a real safari, I wasn’t ready to let him go. Getting that tip about the amazons seemed like a miracle.

The railroad was ending soon, and then the wilderness of the jungle would be too dense for him to walk by himself. But I wasn’t giving up, he stood with me when I blew off college and through every adventure.

I’ll find that Fountain of Youth in time.

While I was outside, I heard my name. I didn’t care, not while I was being stared at… Because I knew they were watching me.

“Shut up.”

“What? Noel, ignore them. Here, this will make you feel better. ”

I didn’t want to, but it didn’t matter. That woman made me take those damn pills anyways. I’ve only been here a week, but that didn’t matter either, I knew they’d find me.

And that night in my room, they did. The light came from the balcony this time, so bright it almost blinded me. I knew I wouldn’t be there the next morning.
